2011 Silverton Citizens’ Police Academy schedule (click here)
The Citizen Police Academy is sponsored by the Silverton Police Department and Silverton Block Watch Association. Citizens learn first hand about the roles and responsibilities of a police officer. The program begins each September and lasts 10 weeks. The class meets once per week for 3 hours at the Deer Park/Silverton Fire Department’s training room and other nearby facilities. A graduation party is held in the 11th week of the program.
This is a chance for you to learn what and why police officers do what they do. You will find this not only interesting but a lot of fun. If you would like to sign up, please make sure you are committed and will attend the classes. You cannot fail this course but will learn much. Registrants must either be a City of Silverton resident, business owner, or business employee. Please contact Officer Jim Replogle if you wish to register. Spots are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
