March Monthly Meeting Summary

The Silverton Block Watch Association March meeting was attended by 51 members. We discussed what to do if there are nuisance complaints, such as high grass, as well as other complaints, who to call and their phone numbers. We then had an informative meeting before turning it over to Lt. Roelkr who discussed Sex Offenders in our area.

The Booths go on sale this Sunday, April 1st for the May 19th Spring Yard Sale. This will be held at the Municipal building Parking by the Montgomery Rd/Plainfield Rd intersection. To get a booth, just walk into the Silverton Police Dept, 24-7, pick out a spot on the diagram, fill out a short form and pay $30 with cash or check.

Betty Ormsby, Kim Stokes and Wm Sorrells were inducted into the Silverton Block Watch Association Hall of Fame. I encourage Businesses to come to the Block Watch Association meetings and tell the citizens of Silverton about your Business.

Self Defense Class

Silverton Block Watch Association sponsored a Self Defense Class last night at Deer Park Municipal Building. Lt. Milt Proctor who is a Black belt and Karate Instructor began the night giving a talk in the class room before moving it downstairs for some hands-on instructing on Self Defense. It as very interesting and fun!

Spring Yard Sale

The 2012 Silverton Block Watch Association’s Spring Yard Sale is Saturday May 19th, from 9am till 4pm. There will be a lot of booths, Music, Food, Split the Pot, Raffle and fun times with nice people.

Block Watch members and Silverton Businesses can get first booth choice if they come to the March 26th Block Watch meeting at the Fire Dept, 7pm.  I will have the diagram there so you can pick out your spot and pay for it. Then they will go on sale to the public on April 1st.  Just walk into the Police department 24 hours a day and you will be shown the diagram. The cost as it has been the last 7 years is $30.00 a spot. You can pay by check or cash,( no credit cards). You will fill out a very short form and get a copy of it that also has rules and regulations on it. So start digging at home and get items together that you are ready to get rid of and make some money. NO FOOD OR BEVERAGE WILL BE SOLD EXCEPT FOR THE SILVERTON BLOCK WATCH ASSOCIATION. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SELL FOOD AND BEVERAGE, BIG PART OF OUR FUND RAISER AND WE GET A BOARD OF HEATH PERMIT.
